FotoFest 300, Galería MÜ’s first festival of contemporary Colombian photography. A selection of six emerging photographers will exhibit their most distinguished works of art during and each will be sold for 300,000 pesos (US$170).
“In most parts of the world, including Colombia, photography struggles to gain recognition as a fine art. Part of our goal is to transform this perception in Colombia and introduce a group of photographers that have a strong trajectory in their artistic photography careers,” says Andrew Ütt, co-director of Galería MÜ.
There is a surge of art photography in Colombia in this era and Galería MÜ seeks to present those photographers that represent the Colombian culture through the means of alternative process that include antique processes, like those of Javier Vanegas, to the democratic sidewalk shots of Susana Carrié, to the computer-enhanced dream worlds of Carolina Montejo. These photographers welcome a new generation of photographers that experience and are part of the resurgence of culture in Colombia.
In addition to presenting a selection of aspiring young Colombian photographers, Galería MÜ will provide an opportunity for Bogotanos to initiate their own photography collection at an accessible price. Many of these photographers have already sold their works and will be showing in future exhibits at Galería MÜ. Both starting and seasoned collectors will have a chance to collect artwork by these promising artists.
